I suppose I should explain the picture first. That's me and my two oldest daughters at a small restaurant in Amherst, Massachusetts at my oldest daughter's wedding. It was a wondeful trip. I first tried to get involved in working on the internet back in 2003. It turned out to be unworkable then because of the extremely slow and very unreliable internet connections available here in Vassouras. In mid 2004, DSL became available - finally - and I've been online since then. Although this site is primarily an information site, in a former life I was a systems analyst and programmer and after I got online I eventually learned php (a new language for me) and have a series of script products I've written for website owners. One of my life long interests has been writing and trying to communicate and share what I've learned. And since I seem to have plenty of ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), I like learning about the oddest and most disconnected things so this site reflects my lack of focus in the sense that I can get interested in almost anything and enjoy writing about it. The site name - SavoirApprendre.com means "To know and Learn" (in French - I had to look it up - and while I'm highly skilled in my native English and middling fluent in Portuguese, foreign languages are not my strong suit). Hopefully you will find something here to know and learn which will benefit you in your own pursuits. If that happens, it's a fine reward. I've found that there is something about how schools work that turns people away from learning, but the search for information on the internet means that the spark and the need is alive and well. Albert Einstein (who didn't like school much) once said: "It is, in fact, nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry." Treasure your "holy curiosity" and enjoy the search to know and learn.
