If you have a problem with alcohol abuse and would like to exercise alcohol abuse prevention, you need to eliminate alcohol, and anything related to alcohol, out of your life completely. The first step is to rearrange your living space because it's very easy to fall off the wagon at home, away from prying eyes. Therefore, there really can't be any temptation at home, not if you are serious about alcohol abuse prevention.
What Reminds You Of Drinking?
First, you need to make a list of everything that makes you think of alcohol and get it out of your home. This may be an ongoing process as you may discover new things that remind you of drinking. You must get rid of these. Things to include on this list are alcohol marketing materials, such as neon bar signs, mirrors, and other items mostly seen where alcohol is served. You should also include any clothing, such as shirts, hats, and other items of clothing where an alcohol brand's name is printed. All of these items can hinder your alcohol abuse prevention as they will remind you of alcohol and that could tempt you to drink.
When you are attempting alcohol abuse prevention, you need to be aware of your drinking habits. For example, do you go to the bar and drink or do you drink at home? Do you like to drink with dinner, or maybe after dinner as a sort of dessert? These are the times when you're most likely to drink and so you have to get used to removing alcohol from your life completely during these times. After a while, your alcohol abuse prevention will become a permanent part of your life and you will find yourself easily refraining from drinking.
Alcohol abuse prevention is also easier if you employ the use of a friend. When you feel the urge to drink, call this friend and tell them you're having a hard time with your alcohol abuse prevention. This friend's job is to talk you into staying your course. Your friends and family care about you so use their help whenever you need it. If you suffer from alcohol abuse, know that you're not alone. It can be a hard road but it's one you can get down, even if you have to ask for help along the way. Just remember to transform your living space into an area that's more alcohol abuse prevention friendly. Then, you'll find that refraining from drinking is easy, as long as you keep in mind that it's all worth it. It's worth it for your health, as well as the peace of mind of those you love who truly care about you.
